Cosplay means costume play, and is when a person dresses up and role plays as a character. Typically, these characters are from anime as costume play has its roots in the otaku culture. This is a popular hobby that millions of people partake in. Most that are involved spend their time hand making their costumes. Another main draw to these costumers are to go to conventions, where they meet other fans of their series, and go to see other costumes. Not only do they dress up as anime characters, but other forms of media such as video games, fantasy, and science fiction are popular.
